I hate that freaking hexer!

The three adventurers situated themselves outside the locked door and Ganassi attempted to pick the lock. Failing that, D’kar smashed his way through it and barreled into a large room containing two massive statues, some goblins, and a guard drake trapped behind a portcullis. Ganassi bravely ran into the room and blocked the switch to the portcullis, in the hopes that he could prevent it from being opened. The magic attack that he flung at the approaching goblin went wide in his haste.

The party pushed open the door to reveal a chilly crypt, complete with a glowing symbol on the floor, a stone sarcophagus, and a number of undead. Consulting his arcane knowledge, Ganassi recognized the symbol on the floor as that of a long dead sorcerer. Perhaps distracted by this revelation, his magic missile attack flew between the ribs of a skeleton archer. In retaliation the skeletons attacked the righteous paladin and cleric, but all of their attacks missed.

There's something fishy going on here...

The party was surprised to come across a well decorated and well stocked library, lit by magical fire. They were also shocked to see the dead body of the scrawny kobold between the two bookcases closest to them. As the adventurer’s examined the room, they discovered strange slits located in some of the floor tiles between the book cases. Bosephus prayed for divine guidance as he looked over the body of the dead kobold and gathered some insight to the nature of the traps in their way.

As the party cautiously entered the next room, they heard the sound of a door being broken into. They were surprised to see a goblin commanding a couple of armored kobolds, while a scrawny kobold looked on. As the goblin sharpshooter noticed the group, he sent the kobold into the room in search of some treasure, before hiding behind a pile of rubble. Noticing the cleric had moved to the front of the group, he fired a bolt that pierced his chain mail. This damage must have distracted the cleric because he missed his attack on one of the kobold dragonshields. The creature backed up to solidify its position with the other dragonshield and turned to face the adventurers.

Old Kellar offered free drinks and the party enjoyed a beverage based on their individual tastes. After a candid discussion with the elder about the current situation in town, he lead the party to ancient ruins nearby. Old Kellar showed the party the entrance before skeddaling back to town. The party warily entered the ruins and came across a trio of kobolds discussion which farm to raid next. After some hurried whispered discussion, they decided that negotiations would be mot and D’kar opened combat with a hastily thrown javelin. Unfortunately the paladin’s attack sailed wide and combat was joined.

The adventure begins...
What have we gotten ourselves into?!

Three friends (Bosephus, D’kar, and Ganassi) who had been writing each other as they all attended the Jim Darkmagic Correspondence Adventuring school, all met up in the little town of Harken to begin their adventure.

Shortly after arriving, they were asked by a local magistrate to clean out a small tomb. Old Kellar said a bunch of kobolds had been raiding the farms around town, returning to their camp in the tomb with their ill-gotten gains.

Could these three new adventurers, without much practical experience, save the town from this new threat? Stay tuned to find out!
